Virtus.pro’s run at IEM Katowice 2017 has come to an end

Virtus.pro and Heroic played the deciding match in Group B at IEM Katowice 2017. The Poles vetoed Cache, Overpass and Cobblestone, while the Danes decided to avoid Mirage, Train and Inferno.

Map stats (Nuke):

The match was played on Nuke. VP.G2A started on offense by successfully entering the upper bomb site, then winning two ecos (3-0). Heroic responded with a victory in the first buy round, which allowed them to even the score (3-3). After trading rounds, the Danes had the upper hand in a whole series of consecutive rounds, gaining a lead (4-8). Despite difficulties during attacks, Virtus.pro minimized the score gap before switching sides: 7-8.

Heroic took the second pistol round. The Poles were able to snatch the initiative and, another round later, redressed the balance in the match (10-10). A series of successful runs on the upper site with subsequent defense of the bomb brought Heroic to match point: 10-15.

Realizing what was at stake, VP.G2A took a tactical pause, and then won back four rounds in a row (14-15). In the deciding round, the Danes showed good grenade work and shooting again, which allowed them to prevail over the Polish Five: 16-14.

The bitter defeat at the hands of Heroic cut short our team’s run at IEM Katowice 2017.
