Virtus.pro advance to ELEAGUE Major 2017 semifinals

Virtus.pro faced the Danish team North in the quarterfinal match of ELEAGUE Major 2017. The winner advanced to the semifinal, while the loser left the tournament with $35,000 in prize winnings and the "legend" status.

Map 1 stats (Overpass):

The match started on Overpass, a map chosen by Danish team. Virtus.pro were initially on the defending side. Snax made three kills in the pistol round, killing the last opponent with a knife (1:0). Two failed ecos later North attempted to take the A plant but were stopped by Jaroslaw "pashaBiceps" Pogorzelski and Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski who made three and two kills respectively (4:0). North managed to plant a bomb in the sixth round, but NEO won the 1v1 situation, making 4 kills throughout the round (6:0).

Virtus.pro continued to dominate the game with their agressive tactics and frequent attacks. The Danes made two kills on their way to the A plant in the beginning of thirteenth round before turning back and attacking the second plant. VP.G2A remained in a 2 vs 4 situation, but three kills made by Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas helped them win the round (13:0). North stopped VP's win streak in the fifteenth round, and the first half ended with a score of 14:1.

After switching to the attack position Virtus.pro rushed B and successfully detonated the bomb (15:1). The Danes took the initiative thanks to well thought out actions while fighting for the B plant during the next round (15:2). North won two match points before losing the majority situation at the B plant - 16:4.

Map 2 stats (Cache):

Following a short pause, the match continued on Cache. VP.G2A started on T side but failed to get an early advantage and lost the first four rounds (0:4). VP restored the economics by the fourth round, rushed B and protected the bomb (1:4). The Poles continued to focus on rushing B and won three more rounds (4:4). They won two more rounds before switching sides (6:9).

North won the second pistol round with a quick attack on the A plant (6:10). Snax was left in the 1v3 situation in the next round. He earned some additional money thanks to a knife kill (6:11). One round later pashaBiceps made a quadrakill while defending the B plant (7:12). The Danes lost one more round before taking the initiative and winning two rounds (8:14). pashaBiceps stopped another B rush by North, making four kills with his M4A4 (9:14). Virtus.pro G2A won three more rounds (12:14), but two successful attacks by the Danes ended the map with a score of 12:16.

Map 3 stats (Cobblestone):

VP.G2A started the decider game on T side. They lost the first pistol round to North - Magisk made an ace defending the A plant (1:0). VP took a tactical pause after losing three more rounds and ended the winning streak of Danes (1:4). They failed to retake the initiative, though, as North contined to win round after round. The first half ended with a score of 3:12.

The Poles turned out to be stronger in the second pistol round: pashaBiceps killed three opponents, winning the round (4:12). VP.G2A improved their economics by countering two eco rounds from the Danes (6:12). North successfully rushed the A plant and won the round, but VP took two more rounds (8:13). The Poles continued to shorten the score gap, breaking the opponents' economy time after time (10:13).

VP retook the A plant in a 2v2 situation with a score of 11:13 (13:13). They stopped North's rush on B after evening the score (14:13) and held the A plant (15:13). The Danes could have only afforted the part buy in the match point. They attacked the A plant, but the "Bears" successfully defended the objective, winning the map and the match with a score of 16:13.

VP will face the winner of SK Gaming vs FaZe Clan match in the semifinal. SK – FaZe match will commence on January 28 at 16:00 CET.
