Virtus.pro lose to EnVyUs at ESL Pro League S5

Virtus.pro G2A’s seventh match at ESL Pro League S5 was against Team EnVyUs. In the previous round, our CS:GO roster had bested mousesports, while EnVyUs had tied with fnatic.

First map stats:

The match began on Nuke, with the Poles starting on offense. In the pistol round, VP.G2A entered the lower bomb site, but were unable to protect the bomb while outnumbered (0-1). After recovering economically in the space of two rounds, Virtus.pro repeated the attack of the lower bomb site, but were unable to protect the bomb (0-4).

The Poles continued to focus on attacking the B site via outside and ramps. After repelling six consecutive attacks, Team EnVyUs lost in a 3v3 situation with a planted bomb (1-10). The French team held out against VP.G2A’s next three assaults. In the last round of the first half of the map, NEO won a 1v3 clutch: 2-13.

EnVyUs took the second pistol round. Virtus.pro went for an eco, then spent all of its money and won the round (3-15). The French team tried to end the game with a force buy and a quick eco, but didn’t succeed until the round after those: 5-16.

Second map stats:

On the second map, VP.G2A began on defense. The Poles were able to defend the A site in the first pistol round. During a force buy, Team EnVyUs quickly entered the A site and were able to protect the bomb (1-1). Four rounds later, Virtus.pro repelled an attack on the B site, breaking the French team’s winning streak (2-5). The Poles held out against a split attack via arch and banana, but then lost in a 2v2 situation (3-6).

Team EnVyUs made three successful attacks, widening the score gap (3-9). During their next assault on the A site, pashaBiceps made three kills (4-9). VP.G2A prevailed in a 2v3 situation on the B site, but lost in the last round of the first map half: 5-10.

Virtus.pro won the second pistol round with a quick attack on the B site. EnVyUs recovered economically after a force buy and an eco, and went on to push the Poles out of the A site (8-11). A round later, VP.G2A mounted a split attack on the B site (9-12).

Focusing on attacking the A site allowed the Poles to bridge the score gap (13-13). Virtus.pro then won a 2v2 on the B site (13-14). Team EnVyUs repelled two protracted attempts by Virtus.pro to enter bomb sites (14-15). The Poles entered the B site, sending the game into overtime after byali won a 1v2 clutch (15-15). Virtus.pro remained on offense in the overtime rounds. In round 31, VP.G2A entered the A site, where TaZ won a 1v2 clutch.

After losing a round to the French team, VP.G2A shot its way through to the A site and protected the bomb (17-16). Switching to offense, EnVyUs entered the B site in the last seconds of a lengthy round, evening the score (17-17).

In round 35, xms scored four kills (17-18). VP.G2A spent the last of its money on buys and stopped a split attack on the B site, thanks to Jarosław “pashaBiceps” Jarząbkowski and his shotgun (18-18). Team EnVyUs rushed the A site, taking the lead (18-19). Virtus.pro went for an aggressive play and even the score. The Poles then repelled a long assault on the A site (20-19).

An ace from RpK put an end to VP.G2A’s rush on A (20-20). RpK then made three kills during another attack on A by the Poles (20-21). Virtus.pro entered the A site and won a 2v2 (21-21). After switching sides, the Poles focused on lengthy attacks on the B site, getting stopped by a quadruple kill from xms twice (21-23). Round 45 saw another unsuccessful attack from VP.G2A (21-24).

In the third overtime series, VP.G2A began by repelling a rush on the A site (22-24). The French team went for a slow round with a split attack on B, and won the game: 22-25. Our CS:GO squad currently ranks ninth in the tournament standings, with 21 points. Per league rules, only the six best teams from the European division will advance to the final stage.
