Virtus.pro beat defending champions in Continental League semi-finals

In a semi-final of the Continental League Spring Split, our League of Legends roster faced M19, the league’s defending champion. The winner would advance to the grand final against Vaevictis Esports, who had bested Vega Squadron.

The match was a best-of-5. Virtus.pro scored the first kill in game one. Our team had the upper hand in the early game, gaining a lead. By the 20-minute mark, M19 had come back in the game, and 7 minutes later, they took down Baron Nashor. The opponent’s advantage increasing, Virtus.pro were unable to hold their own in several important teamfights. 30 minutes into the game, M19 entered VP’s base, and won the game on the second attempt.

In game two, VP drew first blood, followed shortly by another kill. After taking down a drake at the 9th minute, Virtus.pro proceeded to actively destroy buildings. At the 21st minute, Virtus.pro scored an ace during the opponent’s Baron attempt, and claimed Nashor. The second Baron went to our team as well. VP took down three M19 champions and destroyed two enemy inhibitors. The 38th minute saw another ace from Virtus.pro, who then took the Elder Drake, forcing the opponent to surrender.

In game three, the Bears set up an ambush and scored a kill at the 1st minute. VP was ahead in the early game. At the 18th minute, M19 made a double kill. The defending champions came back in the game, and gained the lead in gold after killing the Baron. 32 minutes in, M19 attacked the base and ended the game after two attempts

Virtus.pro drew first blood in game four. Our LoL roster emerged as the leader in the early game. VP’s composition proved significantly more mobile than M19’s picks. Maintaining their advantage, Virtus.pro took the Baron and delivered a fast-paced ending to the game at its 36th minute.

In the deciding fifth game, Virtus.pro drew first blood at the 4th minute. VP had the upper hand in the early ganks and fights. By the 15-minute mark, our team had an impressive lead, as M19 was struggling to stop Doxy. Staying ahead in every metric, Virtus.pro entered the opponent’s base and achieved a convincing victory at the 30th minute.

Vaevictis Esports will be our team’s next opponent. The grand final of the Continental League Spring Split begins at 15:00 CET on April 9.
