Virtus.pro qualified for the Russia Cup 2017

Virtus.pro faced Effect in the semi-finals of the eSports Russia Cup 2017 qualifiers. Earlier, VP.G2A had won against Meow111, while the opposing team had defeated Anzhi. The match was in Best-of-3 format, with the winner getting a slot in the finals of the Russia Cup 2017.

First game stats

Virtus.pro G2A scored first in game number one. Our team focused on attacks on mid and won a teamfight, trading 1 for 3. Effect redressed the balance on the map and gained a lead soon afterwards. 10 minutes later, Effect had a significant gold lead, but were reluctant to mount a full-scale attack. VP.G2A caught the opponent out in several consecutive teamfights and entered the base, forcing Effect to surrender.

Second game stats

Effect drew first blood. Virtus.pro G2A lost several heroes, but evened the score on kills later. VP.G2A made a misplay in the enemy jungle, but were able to recover and take the lead again. Virtus.pro proceeded to actively take out buildings and made four kills while attacking a T2 tower on top. Effect attempted to come back in the game by trying to catch the opponent out on their side of the map. VP.G2A prevailed in a series of teamfights and won the second game in the series after 36 minutes.

The victory against Effect secured Virtus.pro G2A’s advancement to the eSports Russia Cup 2017 finals.
