"Everything looks good for Virtus.pro, but weaker teams will have it tough." Lil on new system of tournaments

Ilya "Lil" Ilyuk commented on the topic of the new point system in his "Championat" interview. In his opinion, it's looking good for Virtus.pro.

"From a perspective of a player of the strongest team in the region – the team that will most likely get qualified for every tournament and will grab the only qualification slot, and after a month of vacation on top of that, everything looks good. More practice – faster return to form.

We're invited to the closed qualifications without any intersections with other qualifiers. Weaker teams, however, will not have it easy. They won't have any time left for practice and improvement, since they'll have to play qualifications, and it will be harder to win them because of the lack of training. It's a vicious cycle where progress is vital, and competition is tougher.

There is a high chance that Dota will get boring at such pace since the value of an individual match is diminished. For instance, before OG and Liquid used to play against each other with roughly the same periodicity, but right now Liquid is directly invited everywhere, so a match against them is worth more than a match against OG, who have to play qualifications.

Undoubtedly, there must not be any intersections in tournament's qualifications. Teams should be able to play all LAN-finals qualifiers, and open qualifications of one tournament shouldn't intersect with closed qualifiers of the other. If you have the ability to play all of them, you can choose a higher-priority tournament for yourself.
