Who are Heroic?
Heroic is a Danish team founded last year by former SK Gaming players. Tired of being without an org, the roster named Team X started their own, went to a Danish tournament, Power-LAN 2016, and won it. It was in that tournament that Heroic put themselves on the map, as they defeated Astralis and then Team Dignitas. Since January 2017, the team has seen multiple reshufflings. Friis left the roster in February and was replaced by JuGi (bought out from Tricked Esport). In May, FeTiSh went from player to coach, and in June, Heroic was joined by es3tag, also formerly of Tricked Esport.
How have they been playing lately?
After seeing success at the IEM XI World Championship and DreamHack Austin 2017 (3rd–4th place), the Danish team had a bad run in DreamHack Tours 2017 (7th–8th place) and didn’t make the main qualifier for PGL Major Kraków 2017. Despite that, Heroic qualified ESL One Cologne 2017, Несмотря на это, Heroic квалифицировались на ESL One Cologne 2017, besting BIG and fellow Danish Team Dignitas in the qual.
Who carries Heroic?
Heroic has both young and seasoned players. On the side of experience, there is their coach (Henrik “FeTiSh” Christensen), their coordinator (Marco “Snappi” Pfeiffer), and a CS 1.6 veteran (Andreas “MODDII” Fridh), while the team’s primary strikeforce consists of Jakob “JuGi” Hansen and Nikolay “niko” Kristensen, who people often mix up with NiKo from FaZe.
How are they playing in ESL One Cologne 2017?
Their first two games in Cologne made it obvious that the team had been serious about preparing for the tournament. It was particularly clear in the first round of their match against FaZe Clan. It was an equal and elegant fight that could have potentially gone in the Danes’ favor (14-16). The match against fnatic was less spectacular; the Danish team did not manage to put up a good offense on Mirage (5-16).
