Gambit prevailed over VP.G2A at DH Las Vegas 2017

Virtus.pro played their advancement match at DreamHack Master Las Vegas 2017 against Gambit Esports. The duel was a best-of-one. Earlier, VP.G2A had defeated Misfits while their opponent had bested fnatic.

Match stats (Cobblestone):

The match was played on Cobblestone. Virtus.pro started on defense. Gambit Esports won the first six rounds, gaining a solid advantage. The CIS-based team was using a two-stage tactic where they’d attack the B site first and then move to A. During one of Gambit’s assaults on B, NEO broke the opponents’ winning streak with a quadruple kill (1-7). The teams went on to trade two rounds back and forth (4-9). A swift attack on the A site by Gambit was stopped by a triple AWP kill from Jarosław “pashaBiceps” Jarząbkowski before the half-time mark: 5-10.

After switching to offense, VP.G2A won the pistol round and the round after it (7-10). The Poles attempted to build their attack around aggression on the B site after setting up cover with smoke grenades, but the opponent was prepared for that tactic. Zeus scored a triple kill during Virtus.pro’s third assault on B, improving Gambit’s economy (7-11). Two rounds later, the Bears succeeded in taking the A site (8-13).

Another attack on B by Virtus.pro resulted in a 1v1 clutch won by Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas (9-13). VP.G2A went for another B-site assault, but with no success due to an unfavorable trade at the drop (9-14). The Poles took a tactical timeout and then mounted two assaults on the B site during force buys. However, Gambit Esports repelled both of these Virtus.pro attacks: 9-16.

fnatic will be VP.G2A’s next opponent. The match will be held 17 February at 22:00 CET.
